Deacons


Allen Reeves

Allen and Judy are both from Alabama and have lived in Nashville since 1984. The Reeves have two children, Hannah, a freshmen at Union and Chandler, freshmen at Lighthouse Christian School. They have attended Smith Springs for six years and Allen became a Deacon in the summer of 2009. Allen works as an engineer and his great joy is to use the talents God gave him to help other people, especially VBS.

Allen’s hobbies are Golf and College Football. Allen has particularly enjoyed those recent seasons when the Tide rolled and the Vols stalled.



Beecher Frasier

Beecher hails from the Cumberland Plateau and found his way to Smith Springs 15 years ago. He and Becky have been married for 13 years and they have one child, the wonderful Willis, who is 2 but working on 20. Beecher became a deacon in 2009, has a knack for making things happen and encouraging others.

Beecher enjoys politics, serving in a variety of roles for federal and state officials. He and Becky loves the outdoors and horses, even competing (and winning) in barrel racing competitions. The Frasiers have a love for the Vols and have, from time to time, worshipped on Saturdays in the fall at Neyland Stadium.

Brad is from Nashville and has been married to Laurie Steelman Howard since 1984. Brad and Laurie have two sons, Bronson and Mason. The Howards have attended Smith Springs since 1987 and Brad has served as a deacon since 1997. Brad has served in an outstanding way as our Treasurer. He genuinely
enjoys helping the congregation accomplish her goals with a heart of stewardship for the Lord's money. The Howards love being involved with a loving congregation and their ministry within Smith Springs is a blessing for many.

Brad enjoys the outdoors and spending time with his family in activities such as hiking, camping, snorkeling, and their trips together.


David Thomasdsc_2821

David was born and raised in Nashville, TN.  David and Angie have been married for 25 years and have three children: Bradley, Michael and Lily. David has carved out a good career as a graphic arts, advertising and design field. The Thomas family have been members here at Smith Springs since 1986. David has served in the Missions Ministry for ten years and assisted with the Camp Ministry for the last six years. He is always greatly encouraged by the dedication and tireless efforts of our Missionaries. David and Angie have found it especially rewarding the past few years to travel and witness first-hand the work that is being accomplished in Greece, Zambia and Honduras.

David enjoys playing the guitar, taking wonderful pictures, opening his home in hospitality and riding horses with his wife and daughter.


Heath Hollanddsc_2816

Heath is a native of Nashville and has attended Smith Springs since his childhood. Heath and Nicole have been married for 6 years and are the proud of parents of two precious little girls, Madeline and Mylo. Heath became a deacon in the summer of 2009. His greatest joy in serving “is knowing what all has been done for me by the King-Servant Jesus Christ.” Heath and Nicole have taken a particular interest, along with Kyle Tuner, in serving our college age and younger married couples.

Heath enjoys playing basketball and playing the guitar, whenever and for whomever he can bless. He always brings a special warmth to all ages, from the youth at our Camp to the VIP’s on their retreats.


Jerry Shaw

Jerry is from Nashville and has been married to Terry for 40 years. The Shaws have two grown children: Glenn (graduated from MTSU) and his wife, Erica, have the first Shaw grandchild, Ryan; Kendall, who recently graduated from Lipscomb University. The Shaw family has attended Smith Springs for the last ten years and Jerry has served as a deacon for eight years. Jerry enjoys a wonderful ministry of visitation and his meetings with others for prayer & service.

Jerry and Terry enjoy spending time together, traveling and being with friends. Jerry especially enjoys riding his horse, Dakota.

Kyle Turner

Kyle claims Antioch as his home and has attended Smith Springs for the last 17 years. He has been married to his “beautiful bride Pamela” for 7 years and they have two small sons, Drew and Beau. Kyle ordained as a deacon in the Summer of 2009. Kyle is a counselor and enjoys using the gifts God has given him to bless others. Kyle and Pamela, along with Heath Holland, have focused their energies upon serving our college age and younger married couples.

Kyle’s interests include spending time with family, playing games, and travel whenever the time and money allow.

Randall has lived in this area all his life. He has been married to Patsy for 48 years. Together they have been blessed to have five children, three still thriving. They are further blessed to have eight grandchildren. The McGills have been with Smith Springs for the last 35 years. In that time Randall has served as a deacon for at least 15 years and an elder for 11 years. Randall enjoys making sure the physical facilities of the church building are working well and lives for compliments.

Randall likes all sports, especially football and particularly when Vanderbilt wins. Randall and Patsy can regularly be found with their grandchildren grow and cheering them on when they participate in any activity.


Ross Uchidadsc_2829

Ross was "born and raised" in Nashville, and married to Cathy for 24 years.  The Uchidas have 3 children: Alex, Stephanie and Kaitlin; life with a college senior and a high school senior and freshman is always full of blessings and adventures. The Uchidas have attended Smith Springs since 1985, and Ross has served as a deacon for the past 3 years.  Ross handles the audio, video and computer technical efforts for Sunday worship services, Bible Camp, Vacation Bible School and special events.  Ross and Cathy actively support Ron and Laura with teen retreats, filming and editing videos, and other teen activities.

Ross enjoys music and photographing his children’s' school events.  He and his daughters were recently blessed by being able to serve at an orphanage in Africa this Spring.  Ross is trying to maximize his Asian heritage by training to be a ninja.


Terry Wright

Terry is from west Tennessee and has been married to Margie since 1982. The Wrights have two daughters in school: Molly who is at Union University and Cassie who is about to graduate from Ezell Harding Christian High School. The family has attended Smith Springs for 19 years and Terry has served as a Deacon for the last 8 years. Terry works as an RN in the Cath Lab at St. Thomas Hospital. He finds great joy in co-directing our Family Camp and seeing the young people grow and develop in Christ. Terry also gets a kick out of attending to our church property, making things grow and cutting things down.

Terry is an avid outdoorsman, using his skills and experience to teach many within the congregation and beyond. He also has a keen interest in history, particularly the history of the Civil War in Tennessee.
